Project Overview
The University of Miami required custom-designed swine pens for their agricultural research facility. Our role was to manufacture and install these pens, ensuring they met the specific needs for robustness, hygiene, and animal safety.
Materials Used
We chose 304 stainless steel for the construction of the pens due to its excellent corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. This material choice ensures that the pens will maintain their integrity and appearance over time, even under the rigorous conditions of an active research facility.
Construction Details
Each pen was meticulously TIG welded to provide strong, clean joints without compromising the material strength. TIG welding was selected for its precision and the high-quality finish it offers, which is crucial in environments where hygiene is paramount.
Challenges and Solutions
One challenge was designing pens that could be easily cleaned and maintained while ensuring the safety and comfort of the animals.
